Spring Skin Prep in Meyersdal, Alberton
Winter leaves skin dry and dull. Here's how to get it glowing again before spring, and which treatments to book first in Meyersdal.

By the end of August, most of us are wearing the winter on our faces. Cold air, indoor heating and hot showers strip moisture out of the skin, and it shows up as tightness, flaking and a dull, tired look that no amount of foundation quite fixes.
The good news is that skin recovers quickly once you give it the right support. Here's where we'd suggest starting.
Why winter leaves skin looking flat
Skin loses water faster in dry, cold air, and the barrier that normally holds that moisture in gets compromised. On top of that, dead skin cells build up on the surface more than they do in summer. The result is a rough texture that scatters light instead of reflecting it, which is why skin can look grey even when it's perfectly healthy underneath.
Reaching for a heavier moisturiser helps, but it only addresses part of the problem. The build-up needs to come off first.
Start with a facial
A professional facial does the two things a home routine struggles with: proper exfoliation, and getting hydration into skin that has stopped absorbing it well. Cleansing, gentle exfoliation, extraction where needed, and a mask suited to your skin type will usually leave skin looking brighter straight away and feeling more comfortable for days afterwards.
If you haven't had one in a while, this is the month for it. Skin that's been prepped tends to respond better to everything you do afterwards, including your own products.

Book waxing before the first warm week
Everyone in Alberton has the same idea the moment the weather turns, and the first properly warm Saturday is always the busiest. Booking a week or two ahead of the rush means you get the appointment time you actually want.
Waxing also works better on well-hydrated skin, which is another argument for sorting the facial and your body moisturiser out first. If you're new to it, come with clean skin and skip heavy body lotion on the day.

A simple routine between visits
You don't need a ten-step regime. Four things carry most of the load:
- Turn the shower temperature down. Hot water feels wonderful and strips the skin barrier.
- Moisturise while skin is still damp, within a minute or two of getting out.
- Use sunscreen daily. Highveld sun is strong year-round, and it's the single biggest factor in how skin ages.
- Drink water and be patient. Skin turnover takes about a month, so give any change four weeks before judging it.
